Biochemical & GALACTIC Lactic Acid Company Limited began operations in 2002 as a joint venture between the Chinese company Anhui
COFCO Biochemical Co. Ltd. and the Belgian company GALACTIC s.a. B&G shares its location with
COFCO Biochemical in Bengbu, the “pearl city” in the Huaihe River valley in Anhui Province, China.
COFCO Biochemical was listed on the Shenzhen stock exchange in June 1999 and is active in biochemical and agricultural products processing including organic acid, starch sugar, sweeteners, amino acid and fuel ethanol.
COFCO Biochemical’s success story continued in November 2006 when COFCO became the controlling shareholder. COFCO, a Fortune 500 enterprise, is China’s largest oils and food importer and exporter as well as a leading food manufacturer.
GALACTIC is a leading supplier in the world market of lactic acid and lactates. Founded in 1994, GALACTIC is a fully integrated multinational company with manufacturing units in Belgium, China and the USA.The company belongs to FINASUCRE, one of the world’s largest producers of sugar.
B&G’s manufacturing plant is designed to meet world class standards in terms of product quality, production efficiency, plus environmental and safety aspects. B&G is today one of the largest producer of lactic acid and lactates. Its strong competitiveness is based on the use of advanced technology and integration with a corn-based glucose production site in combination with a constant drive for excellence.
