 B&G: An Additional Step To Sustain Growth

 Less than 2 years after commissioning of its brand new plant in China, the biggest L-lactic acid production unit in Asia, B&G has decided to double its production capacity. 

A growing market for lactic acid and derivatives in general, and a rapid expansion of emerging segments such as the feed industry and PLA (Poly-Lactic Acid – a biodegradable polymer made of lactic acid) in particular, are guiding B&G to implement this second phase of its development

This second phase was already foreseen when B&G designed the plant but not implemented as long as the market demand was not deemed sufficient. The first volumes from the capacity extension will be already available within the coming 12 months. 

Besides capacity increase, B&G remains on the cutting edge of new technological developments in order to ensure competitiveness and the highest quality standards for the best satisfaction of its customers. 

B&G is a joint venture between BBCA Biochemical and GALACTIC.

GALACTIC, a Belgium based company active in biotechnology, produces L(+) lactic acid using a proprietary fermentation process. After only a few years of activity, GALACTIC became the world second largest producer of lactic acid and derivatives, exporting more than 90% of its production to more than 50 countries.

BBCA Biochemical is the largest company in the fields of industrial biochemistry in China. The company, listed on the stock exchange in Shenzhen, produces starch, citric acid, amino acids, fuel ethanol and sweeteners from cereal grains. BBCA is today the largest producer of citric acid in the world.

B&G Honored with State Friendship Award

 On September 29th, 2006, Mr. Jean-Christophe Bogaert, B&G's Managing Director, received the State Friendship Award from the hands of Mr. Hui Liangyu, Vice Premier of the State Council.

The Friendship Award represents the highest honor that foreign experts working in China can receive from the Chinese government. This year, 46 foreign experts from 19 countries out of more than 7000 candidates have been honored by this Award. During the ceremony held in the Great Hall of People in Beijing, Mr. Hui Liangyu said "the progress of human civilization proves that inheriting and drawing upon the experience of others are essential to development; that without exchange and cooperation improvement cannot be made; that without exploration and innovation there can be no success. Today China is undergoing profound changes. The support of the world is necessary for China's development and China's participation is indispensable to world prosperity". The Award ceremony has been followed by a state banquet in the presence of Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council.

VIV - A Success

The VIV held in Beijing from September 27th to 29th has been a big success for B&G. More than 140 companies visited our booth and left their coordinates for further contacts. Most of these visitors showed great interest in B&G products and especially on BANGIFEX Feed Acidifiers that we introduced in this exhibition.
